Feed My Sheep

“Feed My Sheep” (A ministry of and supported by FBC)

Feed My Sheep is a ministry to those in need of physical and spiritual food and in keeping with the command of the Lord Jesus to feed His sheep.

The Lord has blessed the body called First Baptist Crossville, with more than adequate facilities, resulting in space available for a food distribution ministry.

This ministry is in cooperation with Crossville Good Samaritans, a nonprofit (301K) organization, which operates a social and welfare service. They purchase food from the Second Harvest Food Bank in Maryville, TN, also a nonprofit organization.  Applicants are screened to verify their need and issued a card that allows them to receive food. The distribution of food through FBC is scheduled every other month on the second Saturday. The food is unloaded at the church on the Wednesday morning prior to distribution, arranged and opened in preparation.

An average of twenty-five households of church members are involved in bagging food and loading vehicles of the elderly who benefit from this program.  There are also others from outside the membership who volunteer regularly to assist in this work.  Approximately 18,000 pounds of food are distributed bi-monthly to 175 to 200 needy households. To God be the glory!
